Open star cluster M21

UA 16-inch image of Messier 21

The bright but very sparse star cluster Messier 21 in Sagittarius, shown in an R-band CCD image obtained with the UA 16-inch telescope. The field of view shown is 17 arcminutes wide. With a little imagination, you can see a sort of diamon ring arrangement of the bright stars.
