Globular star cluster M69

UA 16-inch image of Messier 69

The globular star cluster Messier 69 in Sagittarius, shown in an R-band CCD image obtained with the UA 16-inch telescope. The field of view shown is 15 arcminutes wide. M69 appears on the bottom of the Teapot asterism, not far from M70. This image uses logarithmic intensity scaling to bring out both the central blaze of stars in the cluster and the very rich general field of stars toward the galactic bulge.
